Filled conglomerates
Besides other types of asphalts, Vitali S.p.A. produces also filled conglomerates, which are particularly suitable for ordinary urban pavements.
The composition of bituminous conglomerates also contains a percentage of gaps (gaps that vary according to the conglomerate type and variety of aggregate used) which can be filled by using special small materials, called fillers.
A filler is a very small component (< 0.063 mm) which reduces the percentage of gaps in a conglomerate. Thanks to its size, it manages to fill the space created between all the other types of aggregates used.
Based on the percentage of gaps in the product, we identify two categories: draining (or open) bituminous conglomerates and closed filled conglomerates.
The first ones, thanks to their high porosity and a good percentage of gaps, guarantee water drainage, while the closed (or filled) conglomerates have a lower percentage of gaps: the distinctive features of this product are a good surface roughness, guaranteeing an excellent grip and stability.
Vitali S.p.A. produces high quality filled conglomerates, particularly suitable for traditional urban paving.
